Historical Note:
The High School boys planned the organization of a basketball team during the 1911 school year. They were granted permission to use the Y.M.C.A on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This was the first organized basketball team for Elkins High School.
The first High School game for Elkins High was played with the Y. M. C. A. Cubs in their gymnasium, on the 10th of January, 1911. The teams were evenly matched. Elkins High School scored the first points. The first half of the game ended with a score of 13-8, Elkins High leading. Elkins won the game 30-24.
